Abstract:
Residency faculty can enhance the learning of their students and residents and students by improving the skillfulness of their teaching. This session engages participants in an interactive exploration of the how people learn and current research on instructional strategies that improve learning. Participants can then co-create steps to apply this knowledge to their settings.
Rationale:
Like medicine, teaching is a clinical practice that requires knowledge, skill and sound judgment.
Objectives:
As a result of this interactive seminar, participants will:
• Name three core findings about how people learn;
• Identify at least two instructional strategies that align with how people learn;
• Describe how these strategies may be applied in their setting; and
• Learn with and from others in the seminar.
