Description of Resource
This workshop was presented at STFM 2007 in Chicago as a joint effort by members of the EBM and Integrative Medicine Working Groups. It is the result of a series of ongoing discussions aimed at defining the intersection of EBM and Integrative Medicine. Materials include an introductory pwoer point presentation that reviews the tenets of Evidence-Based Medicine in conjunction with the resources that can be used for EB-CAM. Next there is a discussion the challenges in doing research in CAM. Finally there is a review of the current status of CAM education in medical schools. There are 3 cases with materials for discussion of question definition, search strategies and evidence review. The first is on black cohosh for menopausal symptoms, the second on alternative treatments for chronic LBP and the last on acupuncture for LBP. The Resource Handout lists sources for EB-CAM, and Acupuncture Free Resources is for the last case. Finally, the EB-CAM Online Resources is an annotated bibliography of resources for clinical practice and teaching of EB-CAM.
